Jim's Steaks, Lorenzo's Pizza and 'Philly Taco' beer

A Sunday night event: A cheesesteak wrapped in a slice of pizza, with a beer to match.

Jim's South Street will host an event celebrating the gluttonous South Street tradition known as the "Philly Taco" - a Jim's cheesesteak wrapped inside a giant slice of Lorenzo & Sons pizza.

This also involves beer.

As Jim's describes the event: On Sunday, May 31 at 10 p.m., participants will gather at Lorenzo's (305 South St.) and buy a slice of pizza. Then participants will walk to Jim's at Fourth and South to buy a cheesesteak as well as a bottle of Philly Taco beer. They'll go to Jim's upstairs seating area to feast.

Philly Taco beer?

It's a 7% alcohol Belgian-style brown ale conditioned with Brettanomyces - giving it some funk - "kinda like a Philly Taco," organizers say.

Phil Wymore of St. Louis' Perennial Artisan Ales and Joey Redner of Tampa's Cigar City Brewing, who are in town for Philly Beer Week, hatched the idea for the collaboration during Philly Beer Week last year.
