Hi-C Ecto Cooler to return to stores May 30

Locally, we’ve seen Philadelphia police stump for its return on Twitter, and Tired Hands even made their own version (twice). But now, the moment has (almost) arrived.

Locally, we've seen Philadelphia police stump for its return on Twitter, and Tired Hands even made their own version (twice). But now, the moment has (almost) arrived.

Hi-C Ecto Cooler is officially coming back for a limited time. And it even has a Facebook page.

The Coca-Cola Co. announced Ecto Cooler's return on Monday via a release, noting that it will hit store shelves on May 30. It will be released as part of the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot movie.

The drink will be available in 10-packs of 6-ounce juice boxes, as well as 12-packs of 11.5-ounce cans.

For millennials, the original Ecto Cooler rose to prominence in the late 1980s as a promotional tie-in for the Real Ghostbusters animated series. The neon-green, orange-flavored drink was a hit, and continued in production until 2001, when Coke changed the name to Shoutin' Orange Tangerine. Later, it was changed again to Crazy Citrus Cooler.

Eventually, the product was pulled completely in 2007, leaving '90s nostalgics to homebrew their own recipes.

Now, nearly 10 years later, all that is coming to an end. And, hey, if you can't wait until May 30 to get some Ecto, the brand is currently running a sweepstakes to get you a taste early.

Ghostbusters, meanwhile, hits theaters on July 15.
