Happy National Turkey Bacon Day!

Godshall’s Quality Meats, the Telford company, just dreamed up something called National Turkey Bacon Day and it will celebrate on Wednesday, April 30 by giving away more than 800 boxes of real meat, real wood-smoked turkey bacon in Center City.

Another day, another "Day."

We're just over National Pretzel Day, which was knot so bad.

Godshall's Quality Meats, the Telford company, just dreamed up something called National Turkey Bacon Day and it will celebrate the first incarnation on Wednesday, April 30 by giving away more than 800 boxes of wood-smoked turkey bacon in Center City.

Representatives from the company – along with a special National Turkey Bacon Day mascot – will be giving away the free turkey bacon.

From 8 to 8:45 a.m., they will be at Fourth and Market Streets, presumably to catch Fox29's Good Day

From 9 to 10:30 a.m., they will be at 10th and Market Streets

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., they will be at 15th and Market Streets

Godshall's has coined the slogan, "Pigs are nice, turkeys are mean."

The company also notes that Americans, on average, eat 17.9 pounds of pork bacon per year. If every American switched to turkey bacon, it says, as a nation we would be saving 1.96 trillion calories and 442.7 billion grams of fat (which is equivalent to the weight of 122,000 adult elephants) a year.

Godshall's has developed a bunch of turkey bacon recipes, including this one for the maple bacon doughnuts you see before you.
