Frustrated Rams fan approves of Sam Bradford sandwich

At least one St. Louis-area Rams fan feels Philadelphia’s pain when it comes to Sam Bradford — as well as the sandwich that came out of that pain. So much so that he sent Big Q BBQ in Levittown a commemorative Rams plaque of the player to use “as a serving platter for the sandwich,” should they see fit.

With the Eagles and QB Sam Bradford at odds last week, Levittown restaurateur Drew Abruzzese created a sandwich in his "honor."

It is topped with pulled pork to represent the inevitability that Bradford was, in Abruzzese's words, "going to get pulled." The jalapeños are symbolic of Bradford being "on the hot seat," and the potato roll references Bradford's apparent ability to go down "like a sack of potatoes."

Word traveled back to St. Louis about Big Q BBQ's creation, and one Rams fan - a bitter onetime Bradford acolyte - felt Philadelphia's pain.

So much so that he sent Big Q BBQ in Levittown a commemorative Rams plaque of the player to use "as a serving platter for the sandwich," should Abruzzese see fit.

"I had been saving this particular piece of memorabilia and trying to think of someone I knew in Philadelphia that I could give it to as a bit of a joke," wrote fan David Saunders in a letter to Big Q BBQ. "I had been waiting to see how all the cards played out during the draft so I could decide who that lucky recipient might be."

Lucky for them, Big Q BBQ fit the bill.

However, Saunders' gift was not without the suggestion that Big Q add "a couple of antacid tablets on the side just to represent the heartburn that Sam (not the sandwich) has given us all over the years." Which, admittedly, is a pretty great point.

Unfortunately, Big Q won't be using the plaque as a platter for the sandwich. Instead, Abruzzese will hang the plaque in his restaurant with other signage about the Sam Bradford sandwich.

Currently, the sandwich is priced at $5, where it will stay until Bradford should be traded from the Eagles. In the event of a trade, Big Q will move the sandwich to its regular menu at $7.

Bradford, for his part, returned to the Eagles Monday morning, saying in a statement that he is "excited to be back on the field today with my teammates and coaches," despite the last few weeks' drama.

"So he missed a couple days," said defensive end Connor Barwin of Bradford's return. "He's coming back and everything is back to normal."
