Franklin Fountain tops a best milkshake list
The Daily Mail ranked 17 shakes from around the country.
The Daily Meal - always good for a thought-provoking food list - is out with 17 of America's top milkshakes, and Old City's Franklin Fountain tops it.
"With decorative tin walls and ceilings and the building's original porcelain mosaic tile floor, Franklin Fountain shows no signs that before its opening in 2004, the turn-of-the-century building had been a shop called Eroticakes selling evocative lollipops and baked goods. Today, the Berley brothers have turned it into an old-fashioned soda shop," the blurb begins.
At No. 4 is Bassetts ice cream, the Reading Terminal Market-based hometown favorite.
At No. 8 is Max Brenner's, the chain, which has a Philly shop on 15th Street near Walnut.
