First Yuengling-themed bar opens in Poconos

Somehow, this has not happened before — not in Pennsylvania, not in America, not anywhere on earth. But it’s happened now, and it is predictably glorious: The first Yuengling-themed bar in existence has officially opened its doors.

Somehow, this has not happened before — not in Pennsylvania, not in America, not anywhere on earth. But it's happened now, and it is predictably glorious: The first Yuengling-themed bar in existence has officially opened its doors.

Located in Price Township, Monroe County, in the Poconos, the Yuengling Bar & Grill soft-opened recently at the Alpine Mountain Resort to great fanfare. For those keeping track, that's a bar themed around America's oldest continually operating brewery placed inside America's oldest continually operating ski resort.

"Everybody loves the idea," owner Kevin Fabiano recently told PA Homepage.

The bar features all seven Yuengling brews on tap, and, of course, includes tastings if you don't already know which type of Yuengling you're looking for. But a man cannot survive on Yuengling alone, so they'll also be carrying several other beer brands along with a liquor selection.

Yuengling-based food will also reportedly make an appearance once the bar gets on its feet:

While the bar is ready, there's still some work to do in the kitchen and dining area. Once those are done, you will find Yuengling-infused food on the menu."We're gonna have Yuengling wings, Yuengling fish and chips, Yuengling beer battered shrimp, hamburgers, steaks," said Fabiano.

That love for Yuengling is also apparent in the decor, with owner Fabiano saying that the bar will eventually be "a 1920s themed style bar and grill."

"David Yuengling brought it here for, you know, to serve the miners that were very popular here in Pennsylvania," Fabiano said. And the Yuenglings, it seems, were more than happy to lend their help for an idea that would continue that legacy:

The Fabiano family asked the Yuengling family to work on the plans together. "They kind of loved the idea and the concept behind it and so we got together with them and they were able to help us," said Fabiano.

Despite this being touted as the first Yuengling bar, it should be noted that Ohio's Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is home to Yuengling Bar 1829, which is more of a bar that serves Yuengling than a Yuengling-themed bar. Perhaps not surprisingly, the Yelp reviews for that spot are not great.

As for the Poconos, though, the Yuengling family has reportedly said that they may open more locations if the Yuengling Bar & Grill works out. Expect a full open sometime in March.
