Citizens Bank Park to host ‘Philly’s BBQ Fest 2016’ this summer

This summer, Citizens Bank Park will host Philly's BBQ Fest 2016, which organizers tout as the "first large-scale BBQ festival" in the city.

Scheduled to take place Saturday, July 30, the festival will feature samples from more than 40 BBQ vendors. In addition, eating competitions, a beer garden, cooking demos, and live entertainment will be available on-site.

Tickets are currently on sale in "half rack" and "full rack" options. "Half rack" runs $50, and includes 10 BBQ samples and a commemorative apron. "Full rack" runs $75, and includes early entry, 10 samples, VIP rooftop access, a VIP cooking demonstration, and an apron. Both options come with vouchers for two Phillies game tickets. A portion of ticket sales will go toward benefitting "pediatric care," according to a release.

Philly's BBQ Fest 2016 comes to us in part from Elite Events Management Group, LLC — the same group behind the great Cheesesteak Festival debacle of 2015. In that instance, festivalgoers complained of long lines, too few samples, and generally poor planning. Co-organizer Kevin Baxter even claimed to have gotten several death threats from unhappy attendees.

Other organizers for Philly's BBQ Fest 2016 include 93.3 WMMR, 95.7 BEN-FM, 97.5 The Fanatic, and 102.9 WMGK. More information about Philly's BBQ Fest 2016 is available here.
