Bob Barrar’s 2SP Brewing Co. bringing 'The Russian' to Philadelphia taps

Former Iron Hill Brewery brewer Bob Barrar’s 2SP Brewing Co. will soon release “The Russian” on Philly taps — an updated version of his award-winning “Russian Imperial Stout,” which he developed while at Iron Hill.

Former Iron Hill Brewery brewer Bob Barrar's 2SP Brewing Co. will soon release "The Russian" on Philly taps — an updated version of his award-winning Russian Imperial Stout, which he developed while at Iron Hill.

Iron Hill's Russian Imperial Stout took home 10 medals from the Great American Beer Festival and five from the World Beer Cup since its initial brewing. As a result, it cemented Barrar as the restaurant's most award-winning brewer, and that's just for one style.

Now, Barrar and Co. have updated the recipe for The Russian, which 2SP Brewing will bring to Philadelphia on Oct. 30 — Mischief Night.

The following bars will be pouring The Russian beginning then:

  1. Local 44

  2. Standard Tap

  3. Industry Bar

  4. Varga Bar

  5. Jose Pistola's

  6. Strangelove's

  7. Memphis Taproom

  8. Bru

  9. City Tap House Logan Square

  10. Garage

Barrar departed from Iron Hill in January this year to start the Aston-based 2SP Brewing. Since then, it's gained attention through several brews, including the fantastically named Delco Lager, which came out last summer.

Currently, distribution of 2SP is limited. However, its tasting room is open in Aston from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 9 p.m. on weekends.
