Big Philly Beerfest to return in January with more than 350 craft beers

Judging by this year’s beer list, the Big Philly Beerfest plans on living up to its name.

Judging by this year's beer list, the Big Philly Beerfest plans on living up to its name.

Returning for its third year on Jan. 13 and 14 at the Convention Center, this year's Big Philly Beerfest will bring more than 350 kinds of craft beer from more than 125 breweries. So, no, you won't be able to try them all — and live.

Tickets for the event are  on sale, and cost between $45 and $75 in advance of the festival. Regular admission is $45 ($55 on the day of the festival), and includes a souvenir mug for unlimited samples. Early admission tickets are $55 ($65 day of), and include unlimited samples and one-hour-early entry. The "Connoisseurs Reception" tickets cost $75, and include unlimited samples, a snifter glass, access to a special reception area, private restrooms, and appetizers.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Animal Rescue Partners, a local organization focused on finding homes for rescue animals.

This year's festival features more offerings than last year's 300 beers and 100 breweries. Some brews are coming from as far as the United Kingdom, as is the case with Edinburgh's Crabbies and Tadcaster's Samuel Smith, both of which will have four beers available.

On the American craft brewery side, breweries such as California's Moylan's Brewery, New Hampshire's Smuttynose, and Hawaii's Kona Brewing will have beers available to sample.

But don't let those names fool you — this is the Big Philly Beerfest after all. Local breweries like Crime and Punishment, St. Benjamin, Manayunk Brewing Co., Troegs, and Victory will also have beers to try.

The full list of beers that will be at Big Philly Beerfest is available here.
