Well, at least he’s finally coming clean about his prejudice. For the longest time, President Obama has put himself out there as the ‘post-racial’ leader, someone who would unify people regardless of their voter registration, color, religion, gender or sexual orientation because, as he famously said (what now seems to be several decades ago,) “there is no blue America, there is no red American, there is only the United States of America”. Or lovely words to that effect.
I guess the stress of the job finally got to him, or perhaps he’s just finally decided to show his own true colors (pun intended,) but here is what Barack Obama now feels about those on the other side of the political aisle:
I ran for President for the same reason many people came to this country in the first place: Because I believe America should be a place where you can always make it if you try; a place where every child, no matter what they look like, where they come from, should have a chance to succeed……
But apparently, none of this matters to Republicans in the Senate.
You can hear the whole thing here:
I remember when so many people were falling over themselves praising Obama when he came to our fair city and made that ‘landmark’ speech about race at the Constitution Center. He managed to say some very good things, things that the people who wanted a reason to vote for him, who needed to feel that this vote was their “I’m not a racist” credential needed to hear.
But apparently, it was all an act. As one of my friends told me, this shows that Obama has now jumped the shark.
After hearing this, it’s hard to disagree with him.
