I agree with Obama, let's stop defending laws we don't like. Next up...Lilly Ledbetter!

So President Obama has now decided, after being hassled by his uber-liberal storm troopers, that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional and, therefore, his Justice Department won't be defending it anymore.

Yay, hurray, confetti rains down, the sun rises, and the birds start tweeting.  The evil DOMA has been slain!

Not so fast, folks. Let's take this decision to its natural conclusion. Until and unless this law is found to be unconstitional, it must be enforced.  It doesn't matter if you don't like it, and don't think it's fair, and don't agree with the overriding principle that the federal government has a right to determine just who gets to enjoy federal benefits.

It's the law.  And until it isn't anymore, it needs to be enforced by, um, the Executive Branch of our government.

Just because they don't like it, and because they get called mean names in the liberal blogosphere, they are sworn to uphold the law.

If presidents are allowed to ignore laws they don't like, the next one (probably a Republican, given Obama's less-than-stellar poll numbers) will be able to do the same thing.  Like maybe determine that the Lilly Ledbetter act which puts a huge burden on small business owners by allowing people to file (possibly frivolous) employment discrimination claims is  bad and should not be enforced.

Or maybe, just maybe, that president will find a way to bring a really successful challenge to Roe all the way up to the Supreme Court and finally guarantee to the unborn what legislatures beholden to Planned Parenthood and NARAL have denied for almost four decades. The right to life.

Hey, this is fun!  Obama just opened a PanDOMA's Box.
