The Penultimate (Harry) Potter Movie
Rather liked the new Harry Potter movie, or Harry 7.1, as its known in my house. (Read my review here.) But is it heretical (or do I say Harretical?) to wish that the romance in the J.K. Rowling septology was between Harry and Hermione rather than Hermione and Ron?

Thoughts? Other movies where you wish the romantic couplings had been otherwise? When first I saw Reality Bites, I felt that Winona Ryder should have hooked up with Ben Stiller instead of Ethan Hawke.
But is it heretical (or do I say Harretical?) to wish that the romance in the J.K. Rowling septology was between Harry and Hermione rather than Hermione and Ron? Yes. If you'd read the books, you'd realize they would never have ended up together. Even JKR herself has said that it is a terrible idea. amy216
The series of books should be termed a "heptalogy," not septology. Seth Itzkowitz
Nah, it's not heretical, nor is it Harretical. That's what the "Shipping Wars" are about. It's a matter of preference, although some begin to hyperventilate when one calls it a matter of preference.
Having said that, I agree with Amy that Harry and Hermione never would have ended up together. There is something about Ginny's quiet power that balances well with Harry's fame, and his reputation as a powerful wizard. There is something about Ron's street smarts that balances well with Hermione's book smarts.
I agree with you about "Reality Bites", though. shod
Andy (Molly Ringwald) should have ended up with Duckie (Jon Cryer) and, originally, that's how "Pretty in Pink" was written until Ringwald allegedly raised hell, wanting Andy to be with Blane (Andrew McCarthy). That's why John Hughes got angry at Ringwald and why he and the same director (Howard Deutch) remade "Pink" a year later as the role-reversed "Some Kind of Wonderful" - this time with the correct ending. I always thought Jean Arthur had more chemistry with Ronald Colman than with Cary Grant in "Talk of the Town." An enjoyable movie, but that always seems off to me. wwolfe
I agree with you, Harry and Hermione would be much better as a romantic couple. They made sense together based on character development in the books, theirs was the only love story actually shown in the books. And they great chemistry in the films. fanofphillyreviews
