The Seaport Museum's highly anticipated exhibit, Oh Sugar! opens its sugar-coated doors on Friday, Aug. 16.

The exhibit, curated by Ryan and Eric Berley, chronicles the super-sweet love affair Philly always has had with delectable confections. From colonial sugar cane trade to candy manufacturing, the history of sweet stuff will be illustrated with more than 100 artifacts on display.

The Berley brothers are definitely the perfect duo to curate such an exhibit, since they are the masterminds behind the city's Shane Confectionery and The Franklin Fountain.

Pop star Katy Perry announced the official coming of her new album, Prism, earlier this week with banner-like golden trucks in Los Angeles and details on the record’s first single.

The singer has been through quite a bit since 2010’s Teenage Dreams: a divorce, multiple hair color changes and falling in love with John Mayer. So, it seems mighty appropriate that “Roar!” is the title of her first single. She’s rumored to have collaborated with artists like songstress Sia and producer Dr. Luke; also she’s considering taking musical influence from the ‘90s.

The album will be released on October 22

Justin Timberlake’s latest single “Take Back the Night” finally has a funky new music video to go with.

According to press release for the vid, it ”harkens back to the days when nightlife ruled (New York) and beckons everyone within earshot that the night holds endless possibilities,” and we couldn’t agree more

The song is off of The 20/20 Experience Pt. 2, which is due out September 30. Justin Timberlake and Jay Z come to Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park as a part of the Legends of Summer tour on August 13.

Joe Goddard of Hot Chip.

Hot Chip are a British indie-electronic band that gained international recognition when they first punctured the surface of dance floors with infectious hits like “Over and Over”, “Ready for the Floor” and “Shake a Fist.”

The band hasn’t released an album since 2012, but they’ve been hot on the tour circle and peaking with multiple media outlets about plans for their next big record. Until then, the members are dabbling in side projects and spinning a DJ set on any given evening.

This Wednesday, at The Dolphin Tavern, vocalist, synth-player and percussionist Joe Goddard–better known from Hot Chip as Ulysses–will be spinning a very special DJ set for Philadelphia along with funk, disco resident, Greg D.
