Of course SNL couldn’t let an opportunity like the success of Obamacare and a new report on global warming slip by without mocking Fox’s coverage of the week’s news on ‘Fox and Friends.’
The parody began with a far right favorite: the idea that signing up coverage on healthcare.gov was nearly impossible. An “Obamacare survivor” played by Anna Kendrick emphasized this travesty saying her preexisting conditions, including mood swings and excessive drinking, were not in fact covered by the Affordable Care Act despite the President’s claims.
After Brian Kilmeade played by Bobby Moynihan questioned the “science” of belts in the 21st century, the conversation looked to the cosmos to explain the newest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, played by Keenan Thompson, explained the basics of the report as the ‘Fox and Friends’ hosts sat bewildered. "It is an indisputable fact that the earth is getting warmer," he said. The world must take action to save to polar bears.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, Dr. Tyson, the polar bears are just fine," said a doubting Steve Doocy played by Taran Killam.
Confused by the hosts’ confusion, Tyson had one more explanation to serve.
“Science,” he said, “allows us to detect when people’s philosophies are interfering with the dissemination of those essential truths.”
