Oprah Winfrey was in Austin, Texas on Monday for her much anticipated interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong. (The discussion will air as a two-part special beginning Thursday on Oprah’s OWN channel.)
This morning Ms. Winfrey appeared live on CBS This Morning to discuss the summit. She says that she came prepared with 112 questions, not all of which got answered.
According to Oprah, she and her TV crew were “mesmerized and riveted” by Armstrong’s answers. Charlie Rose asks if the athlete, who last year was stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles, was forthcoming. “He did not come clean in the manner that I expected,” Winfrey responded.
Throughout his career, Armstrong had adamantly denied the repeated allegations that he was using performance enhancing drugs. The interview would be the first public admission of his wrongdoing.
Was he candid? Oprah defers from characterizing Armstrong’s attitude, but she did say that by the end of extensive interview, she felt “satisfied.”
