Oh no, she didn't!

Bad, bad Oprah. Just as the Grammys were kicking off, about the time Bruce was singing “We take care of our own”, she was only looking out for herself.

Here’s what she tweeted to more than 9 million rapt followers:

"Every 1 who can please turn to OWN especially if u have a Neilsen box."

Oh, Oprah, you know that’s taboo. You’re not allowed to make that appeal for the box holders who influence ratings. (And by the way, it’s spelled “Nielsen”).

She drew some heat for her plea. Words like desperate and pathetic were thrown around. At one point, defending her own honor, she tweeted, “Unethical is a little harsh, don’t you think?” Well, no, it’s not, since you had to sign a binding agreement with Nielsen precisely forbidding this type of behavior.

Nielsen has not yet announced their planned punishment for the offense. Maybe make her watch Rosie?

So Nielsen forbids blatant pleas for viewers, but the industry allows advertising rates to be based on sweeps ratings, which might include gimmicks (live episodes, 3-D, crossover casts), stunt casting (Julia Roberts on "Friends," etc.) and other hustles that don't resemble any of the garbage that is on during non-sweeps periods?
