M. Night Shyamalan’s Split has only been in theaters for a few days, but Jimmy Kimmel has already started looking forward to its sequel.
The film, which debuted over the weekend at number one with $40.2 million in ticket sales, details the story of Kevin, a man with 24 personalities who kidnaps a group of women. Shyamalan’s Philly-shot movie stars James McAvoy, but Kimmel has another villain in mind for Split 2: President Donald Trump.
Kimmel laid out his version of the sequel on Tuesday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a preview combining various speeches from President Trump with the original Split trailer.
“23 personalities live in Donald Trump,” the trailer’s announcer says, followed by a woman asking “To whom am I speaking now?”
“Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Rosie O’Donnell,” Trump’s voice responds in return.
Another scene has a Split character asking “How old are you?” Trump responds with several ages, saying “I feel like I’m 30, 35, 39.”
Despite the jokiness of the trailer, Kimmel’s hope for a Split sequel aren’t too far off — aside from President Trump’s involvement, of course. Shyamalan recently told Uproxx that he hopes to make a sequel to the similarly Philadelphia-shot Unbreakable as his next film, which will include characters from both the 2000 Bruce Willis film and Split.
The Philly native also celebrated "M. Night Shyamalan" night during the Sixers' game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center. Shyamalan rung the team's ceremonial Liberty bell, while his daughter, Saleka Shyamalan, sung the National Anthem.
