Jennifer Lopez to star in new Ryan Seacrest-produced drama, 'Shades of Blue'

She’s done albums, acting, and is the latest female host to take the American Idol judges chair, so what’s next for Jennifer Lopez?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has signed a deal for 13 episodes of the new Ryan Seacrest-produced, Lopez-starring cop drama, Shades of Blue.  The storyline centers on single mother Harlee McCord, played by Lopez, who is a dirty cop drafted by the FBI’s corruption task force. She frequently finds herself at odds as she works against her service to “help redeem herself.”

Production for the TV series is slated to begin in 2015 and you can expect it to hit your screen in the 2015-16 season. This is Seacrest’s first sold drama project, which takes a step away from his usual roster of unscripted reality shows like Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Shahs of Sunset.
