It was the final performance of the night, as the judges started thinning out the herd during the Hollywood round of American Idol. Here’s what happened to 16-year-old Symone Black.

 

That’s how it went if you were watching live. But if you DVR’ed the show, you never got to see the incident. The episode ended prematurely for you with a freeze frame of Black, still upright, as Fox cut early to its next program Mobbed.

Either way we’ll all have to tune in tonight to find out how the teenager fared after her fall. All we were left with was producer Nygel Lythgoe repeating, “Medic please!”

Hard to say what put Symone into such a dizzy state. Randy asked her why she chose Otis Redding’s “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” and she admitted it was to appeal to an older audience, i.e. the judges. “Are you saying we’re old?” he scoffed. Well, yeah. Because you are. But I think Symone realized she had accidentally wandered into an insult and she began to wobble and then….
