It’s no secret. Ruben Studdard, the winner over Clay Aiken in American Idol’s memorable second season, has always struggled with his weight. Even a decade ago when he was competing on the show. (In video below, he performs “Superstar” for Randy, Simon and Paula.)
Now he’s making a public commitment to do something about it. People.com is reporting this morning that Studdard, 35, has signed up for the next season of The Biggest Loser on NBC.
Like many Americans, the German-born, ‘Bama-raised singer has long attempted to keep his weight down through self-discipline. It peaked at 455 pounds a few years after opportunity knocked on the Fox singing contest.
Studdard has had periodic success shedding weight with diet and exercise regimes, but keeps yo-yoing back up after an interval of success.
