Star, the Fox girl-group series created by West Philadelphia's Lee Daniels and Drexel Hill's Tom Donaghy, has been renewed for a second season.
"Lee Daniels is a true visionary, and he and Tom Donaghy have delivered a series with a unique and meaningful point of view," said Fox entertainment president David Madden in a prepared statement released Wednesday. "Our incredible cast, led by Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt, instantly infused their characters with tremendous depth and passion, and the show has proved to be both powerful and really entertaining. We are thrilled that this Star will continue to shine for a second season."
The show, which airs at 9 p.m. Wednesdays, will end its first season on March 15, making way for the March 22 return of Daniels' hit show Empire. Guest stars for the remaining Star episodes include Naomi Campbell, Big Boi, Rickey Smiley, Missy Elliott, and Paris Jackson.
