The brief clip of Matthew Broderick throwing open the curtains in full Ferris Bueller mode became such an internet sensation – over 4 million hits in as many days – that Honda decided to release the entire body of its Super Bowl commercial. Here you go:
It’s a lovely recreation of the 1986 classic. Only the truant schoolboy is now a grown-up actor playing hooky from the movie set. There’s the valet, forlornly calling his name, the singing on a parade float and many other familiar touches.
The network (in this case, NBC) charges like $6 million per second for Super Bowl commercials, but this one, however extended, seems worth every penny.
