Bristol Palin returning to 'Dancing With the Stars'

Bristol Palin returning to 'Dancing With the Stars'

Add another “reality” gig to the Palin family account.

Just a few days after Todd Palin (and his wife, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin) met with reporters in Beverly Hills to talk up his participation in NBC's “Stars Earn Stripes,” ABC Friday announced that Bristol Palin, who's currently starring in a Lifetime series, "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp," would return to “Dancing With the Stars” for its all-star edition, which premieres Sept. 24.

Say what you like: The girl's dancing as fast as she can.

One final contestant will be chosen by fans, but alas, Cloris Leachman isn't in contention.

Instead viewers will get to choose from among Sabrina Bryan, Carson Kressley and Kyle Massey. The trio will kick off their get-out-the-vote campaigns on ABC's “Good Morning America” on Monday. Or you can start stuffing the ballot box immediately by clicking here.

Partners will be announced Aug. 13, but exec producer Conrad Green points out that they can't all have their original partners.

"This is almost our version of 'The Avengers.' These are the superheroes of their particular seasons," he said.

As for why Palin would want to put herself through this again, "I just think God provides opportunities to do things like this and you can either do them or not do them," she said, sticking to her family's party line, which is that "reality" TV is just an opportunity to, as her mother puts it, live "vibrantly."

“I don't think it's our business,” Palin told a reporter who suggested she might be making herself vulnerable to criticism that "reality" television has become "the Palin family business."

And when asked about her level of comfort with gay people and how she might react if paired with a gay dancer, she said, “I'm not a homophobic and I'm sick of people saying it. Just because I'm for traditional marriage, doesn't mean I'm scared” of anyone.

Asked if the press would've contntinue to hound her if she'd merely returned with her family to Alaska after the 2008 election -- because press hounding is another Palin family meme -- Palin said, "I couldn't tell you what would've happened if I'd just gone home. I like my little life in Alaska with my son," but "Dancing" is a fun gig and she plans to enjoy it.

Asked if there were anything she enjoys about her press coverage, Palin repeated the mantra: "God provides opportunities like this for me, and this is a great opportunity.”

Pressed further, she added: “Do I like to provide for my son? Yes, I do.”
