Steven Tyler will no longer be a judge on "American Idol," according to release from Fox.
So says Tyler:
After some long...hard...thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit. I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover…On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars…IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it…Now it’s time to bring Rock Back. ERMAHGERD.”
Tyler had been a judge for the past two seasons.
Jennifer Lopez also dropped hints she was ready to leave the show that effectively revived her sagging career. Lopez hinted on the "Today" show this morning that she was "thinking that maybe it’s time for me to go and do other things that I really love to do."
We have to say: We're glad these two are on the way out. Ever since they joined, "Idol" has become a bit too touchy-feely when it comes to judges' criticisms (in Tyler's case, literally; he was a bit creepy, no?). Not every performance is amazing and Randy should not be the only one dropping truth bombs.

- These two....last to get off s sinking ship. Simon Cowell made that show. The winning singers produced on that show are nothing more than lip syncing gimmicks who the public does not take serious as artists.— URANIUM235

Tyler and Lopez used the show to spotlight their own musical performances and that has paid off for both of them. Excellent time to retool the show from "kids singing songs their parents like" to something fresher, if possible.— wfs0868
