Brooklyn singer Xenia Rubinos' Magic Trix, on the BaDaBing label, is one of the more intriguing releases of 2013. Is the Cuban / Puerto Rican vocalist a Latina Bjork? A shinier, happier cross between Fiona Apple and St. Vincent? Or just a full-of-surprises, angular creative force who we'd be better off appreciating for her own merits than comparing her to other artsy female artists?
