Wild Flag at the Trocadero

Formidable four-piece Wild Flag play the Trocadero tonight. I managed to miss the rock band fronted by guitarists Carrie Brownstein, formerly of Sleater-Kinney (whose drummer Janet Weiss is also in the band) and Mary Timony (late of Helium) on their two previous stops in town, and the quartet's self-titled debut album was one of the best of 2011, so personally, I'm pretty excited.

My interview with Brownstein, who's also co-star the cable sketch comedy hit show Portlandia, from last October, is here. She's pictured to the left, with Weiss behind her. Clips of the band stetching out on Wild Flag's "Racehorse," and ambling through the Rolling Stone's "Beast of Burden," with Timony on lead vocals, at Johnny Brenda's last March are below. Brooklyn's Hospitality and Philadelphia's Blood Feathers are both worth getting there early for. Details of the all-ages show here.
