Sacha Baron Cohen ditches Freddie Mercury biopic

After three years of work behind the highly anticipated Freddie Mercury biopic, Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen has decided to leave the project, reports Deadline.

Cohen’s uncanny likeness between himself and the iconic singer of Queen essentially brought the project together. This news obviously comes as a big surprise to fans, but it all came down to creative difference towards the end. While Cohen was looking to create a tell-all, full-frontal R-rated flick, living Queen members were hoping for a toned down PG version.

The movie was originally scheduled for release in spring of 2014. There is no word on who will replace Cohen.
