Philly’s Jam on the River festival returns this summer with a new kind of lineup

Before there was the Mad Decent Block Party or the Roots Picnic, there was another festival that brought folks from far and wide down to the Delaware waterfront: Jam on the River

Jam on the River was the highlight event of Memorial Day Weekend. School was almost out and the summer season was just beginning to creep in. Unfortunately the annual fest went on hiatus six years ago without any warning or explanation. It was known for bringing a diverse lineup, usually a mix of acts ranging from electronic to folk. The Flaming Lips, Avett Brothers, RJD2, Josh Ritter, The Disco Biscuits, and Deadmau5 were on the bill for the last show in 2008. That show was etched in history when a group of naked women jumped on stage to join Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips. Now the festival is back with a whole new vibe and a different kind of lineup.

This Memorial Day weekend, on Sunday, May 25, the festival returns to the River Stage at Penn's Landing thanks to the overwhelming demand from longtime fans. This year’s lineup is predominantly an electronic one that includes Lotus, GRiZ, Papadosio, Conspirator, Zoogma and Grimace Federation. Their re-launched website also reflects the rise of EDM culture with a new logo, a galactic night sky background and a neon color way. Another noticable change that instead of two-days, they've reduced it to one packed day of entertainment.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday, Mar. 21 at noon and will be available at, Live Nation Box Office, venue box office (day-of-show only), Ticketmaster Outlets or by-phone at 800-745-3000.
