Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' music video smashes VEVO record

The symbolic smashing of walls and swinging of a nude, tearful Miley Cyrus in her latest work of art has lead the controversial pop artist to demolish yet another boundary.

Cyrus' new "Wrecking Ball" music video, which premiered Monday, Sept. 9, broke VEVO's record for most-viewed clip within its first 24-hour time span with an astounding 19 million hits -- eclipsing One Direction's "Best Song Ever" for the top slot.

"Wrecking Ball has officially beat the @VEVO record," she tweeted Tuesday. "Thank you smilerzzzzz."

Meanwhile, the backlash against the twerking queen's nudity continues to rile the masses. It seems critics remain split between the creative nature of the music video verses the sexualization of the former Disney star.

Cyrus' new album, Bangerz, drops Oct. 8.

Her next big act, however, will come Oct. 1 when her one-hour documentary, Miley: The Movement, premieres on MTV. "There's going to be a lot of ups and downs," she tells the network. "You've gotta be a part of the movement with me."

What are your thoughts on her new video?
