Philadelphia-area fans of Mariah Carey and Lionel Richie will have to look to other avenues of entertainment come March: The stars have postponed their scheduled March performance at the Wells Fargo Center.
The tour, set to launch March 15 in Baltimore, was postponed after Richie recently underwent knee surgery.
“When you have been performing as long as I have, it takes a toll on your body,” the “Endless Love” singer said in a statement on social media. “Unfortunately, my recovery from a knee procedure will not have me 100 percent ready to start the tour next month. I don’t want to disappoint my fans, and I look forward to being back on stage so we can all be ‘Dancing on the Ceiling’ together again.”
The 35-date tour will be rescheduled for this summer, and all previously sold tickets will be honored at the new performances.
Carey and Richie previously announced their joint tour in December. It will be the pair’s first tour together.
New dates for a rescheduled tour will be announced as summer approaches, according to Richie’s statement.
