This summer, legendary heavy-metal act Iron Maiden will return to Philadelphia to play its first indoor show in the the city since rocking the Spectrum in January 1991, the band announced in a statement.
The band will bring its “The Book of Souls” tour to the Wells Fargo Center on June 4 with support from Swedish heavy-metal band Ghost. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, through the Wells Fargo Center website and box office.
The Philadelphia date is part of a return to North America for “The Book of Souls” tour, which opened in Florida last February. The tour so far has hit 34 countries around the world for more than 70 total shows.
The tour supports Iron Maiden’s 16th studio album, The Book of Souls, which is also the band’s first double album. Released in September 2015, the album charted at number four on the Billboard 200 in the United States.
Iron Maiden in 2005 played an outdoor show at what is now BB&T Pavilion; at the time it was the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront.
