GQ thinks that the city of Philadelphia has “underdog charm” and we would have to agree.

Constantly being overshadowed by New York, our city gets few moments in the spotlight; but when it happens, it's quite rewarding and warrants a pat on the back (go ahead citizen, give yourself one).

The modern men’s magazine recently published its Philadelphia City Guide and it highlights some of our favorite bars, restaurants, lodging, eats, divey hangs and cultural must-sees.

Coming in at #3 is our favorite donut shop, Federal Donuts. The fried treat specialist has a lot going for it at the ripe age of two. Here is what GQ says: “First: get a cup o’ coffee and a piping hot made-to-order yeast doughnut with flavored sugar such as vanilla and lavender, or opt for the pre-made cake variety in fancier flavors like strawberry ginger and cookies-and-cream. Don’t forget the chicken with a chili-garlic glaze as a post-sugar treat (cause why not eat desert first?).”

Also topping the list are establishments like Hotel Monaco, known for its kitschy hip living vibe, Art in the Age, one of the most wondrous boutiques in Old City, the Barnes Foundation, Johnny Brenda’s, Talula’s Garden, Mutter Museum, Dolphin Tavern, and Pat’s King of Steaks.
