Chris Cornell bails on Made in America fest, playing Iowa with Obama

So much for that Temple of the Dog reunion some people were hoping for at Sunday's Made in America concert. Pearl Jam are still headlining, but Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell announced Tuesday night he is cancelling his set due to "A scheduling conflict." Cornell revealed Monday that he will perform Saturday at a huge Barack Obama campaign rally in Des Moines, IA.

Chris Cornell bails on Made in America fest, playing Iowa with Obama

So much for that Temple of the Dog reunion some people were hoping for at Sunday's Made in America concert.

Pearl Jam are still headlining, but Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell announced Tuesday night he is cancelling his set due to "A scheduling conflict."

Cornell revealed Monday that he will perform Saturday at a huge Barack Obama campaign rally in Des Moines, IA. "Proud to support @BarackObama again in 2012. I'll be opening for him in Des Moines on Sat, Sept 1. Follow @OFA_IA for details. #fourmoreyears," he Tweeted Monday.

Surely, Cornell could play both locations on different days, what with planes, traines and automobiles to transport him from Iowa to Philadelphia. It is unclear if the Obama gig caused his Made in America cancellation.

LiveNation reps did not immediately return request for comment.

UPDATE: On Wednesday night, the following post appeared on the Made in America Facebook page:

"On August 16th, Chris Cornell’s management made Live Nation aware that Chris Cornell would not be playing the BMIA Festival. We apologize to Chris Cornell fans for the delay in making them aware.

Our ticketing policy is such that artists are subject to change, however, fans that have purchased a ticket after August 16th can contact miachriscornell@gmail.com with their query. We apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this has caused. We look forward to a great festival"

Yeah, keep listening to Ted Nugent. Guy has 2 good songs and hasn't done anything since the 70's.

I guess he didn't want to be part of a potential riot.

Thanks, Chris. A two for one deal. Good to support Obama and slap Nutter.
