The controversial R&B artist took to Twitter on Tuesday to let fans know that after his upcoming X LP, he’ll be hanging up his musical talents.

Chris Brown tweeted:

“Don’t worry mainstream America. After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album.”

“Being famous is amazing when it’s for ur music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I’m cool 7 over it!”

Brown has had a tough few years, especially when dealing with his "private" life in the media. After being publically criticized for the physical harm of then-girlfriend Rihanna, he’s gotten himself into other problems including a hit-and-run case, possible assault at a concert, vandalism and freaking out pre-live T.V. appearances.

Chris Brown’s sixth–potentially final–studio album, X, hits stores on August 20.

Chris Brown was also found guilty in the recent hit-and-run case. He quickly checked in and out of the California jail facility where he was being held on Monday.
