This weekend Matthew Knowles started a new chapter of his life by marrying former model Gena Charmaine Avery after being engaged for a year and a half.

A celebration like this should warrant a cause for family celebration, but this was not the case for Knowles’ famous daughters Beyoncé and Solange.

The two songstresses were nowhere to be found at the ceremony, reports TMZ, with the newlyweds claiming that they had “engagements which made it impossible for them to attend.”

Matthew Knowles famously managed Destiny’s Child and Beyoncé for most of her career until they parted ways in 2011, due to their seemingly negative relationship. Some credit the management split due to his divorce with the girls’ mom Tina Knowles, an extramarital affair that produced an out of wedlock child and just plain ol’ disagreements between the daughter-daddy duo.
