David Bowie's The Next Day, his first album since 2003, comes out March 12. As of tonight, the Thin White Duke's 26th studio album, produced by Bowie and longtime compadre Tony Visconti, is streaming in its entirety on iTunes.

The enormously talented and energetic  Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson has achieved much – as a virtuoso drummer for The Roots and others, as a producer, arranger, “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” bandleader (also with The Roots), club DJ, composer, Philadelphia music festival curator and  culinary entrepreneur.

The Philly DoGooder Awards, held tonight at the University of the Arts to fete the best in non-profit video storytelling, announced that they would be doling out awards to Philly.com's own Leah Kauffman for Innovation in Storytelling and City Representative Desiree Peterkin-Bell for Innovation in Urban Mechanics. But the third award, for Innovation in Community Building, went unannounced.

Taylor Rand, who went to Girls High and works at Chickie's and Pete's in South Philly, will compete against 163 other young women at 8 p.m. Feb. 13, 2013, on Fox's "American Idol."

Last night’s episode of “American Idol” saw our two Philly gals, Chickies & Pete hostess/Lawncrest resident Taylor Rand and Council Rock North junior Courtney Calle, sent home after the group rounds.

Tame Impala

The Australian band Tame Impala are already in the midst of a killer year ever since the release of their stellar sophomore album, Lonerism, last October. They've already sold out shows around the world including one at Union Transfer last November and are about to embark on another sold-out North American tour.

UPDATE: As expected, Beyonce's big Super Bowl splash is being followed by a tour announcement. The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour play the Wells Fargo Center on July 25 and Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on July 26. Tickets for the Philadelphia show go on sale Feb. 15 at ComcastTix.com.
