If you watched Romeo and Juliet on rewind...

Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio in Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet"

Those funlovers over at A List of Things Thrown Five Minutes Ago alerted Flickgrrl to that most enjoyable timesuck, If You Watch it Backwards, which imagines famous narratives viewed in reverse.

For instance:

If you watch Benjamin Button backwards, it is about a kid that grows old and dies.

If you watch The Exorcist backwards it’s about a girl who’s very sick until she eats some pea soup and finally gets better.

So inspired, Flickgrrl spent an embarrassing amount of time today thinking of Bible stories and Shakespeare plays in reverse. If you watch Romeo and Juliet, a handsome young couple is resurrected, see each other surreptitiously and gets separated by their feuding families.

Imagining Groundhog Day and 2001: A Space Odyssey and Being John Malkovich in reverse made her head explode like the guy in Scanners. Does a good narrative need to work on forward and in reverse?
