They worked together across three Hangover films so nicely, they decided to set up shop permanently—that’s right, Bradley Cooper and director Todd Phillips have jointly established a production company. No name for it yet, but they’ve already announced their first film as Arms & the Dudes.

Having already signed a three-year production deal with Warner Brothers, Cooper and Phillips’ company already has a guaranteed distributor for whatever they decide to put out. Arms & the Dudes, their first release, is based on a Rolling Stone article about a couple of Miami Beach stoners that somehow ended up as arms dealers for the US government. So, think a stoney version of American Hustle.

Cooper and Phillips’ joint deal with Warner Bros., however, is not a first for either man. Cooper, in fact, is still under a two-year deal for his 22nd & Indiana Pictures, a deal that so far has brought about the Clint Eastwood-directed American Sniper. Phillips’ Green Hat Films, on the other hand, has been running since 2005 and is the source of all the Hangover films, along with 2010’s Due Date.

Arms & the Dudes, in fact, began as a film at Green Hat, with Phillips having already been working on it for a number of years. Jonah Hill is slated to play one of the two stoners involved, and Phillips will direct. Cooper, for his part, will continue work on American Sniper
