Ultimate adorkable couple Ben Gibbard and Zooey Deschanel divorce

Lovers of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl: Your dream girl is back on the market.

True love takes another blow today as reps confirm to Us Weekly that actress/singer Zooey Deschanel split with musician Ben Gibbard, of the Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie fame.

"It was mutual and amicable," a source told Us. "There was no third party involved."

The couple made it two years. They were hitched outside of Seattle in 2009.

Death Cab and the Postal Service are woefully weepy, so will Gibbard find solace in his own tunes? Let's just say he won't be checking up on She & Him's new Christmas album.

Deschanel returns tonight to a boob tube near you as a Fox brings back her show "The New Girl," which took a baseball-induced hiatus in October. It's one of the few certified hits of this television season. Check it at 9 p.m.

Here's what Daily News TV critic Ellen Gray had to say about "The New Girl" back in September:

Zooey Deschanel has a special power of her own: She makes people melt. There may be those who don't find her irresistible, but like people who dislike puppies, they tend to keep it to themselves.
Unfortunately for Deschanel, the writers of Fox's "New Girl" seem to have over-relied on the "(500) Days of Summer" actress' ability to make even a commercial for cotton seem like an indie classic.
So after her quirky character, Jess Day, walks in on her boyfriend with another woman, she moves in with three quirky guys who decide she needs de-quirking, a situation in which her quirks aren't just absurdly magnified but are forced to compete with the quirks of everyone around her.
Now that's a crime.
