That time Kelly Ripa saved Scarlett Johansson's breast pump

2016 FOX ALL-STAR PARTY: (L-R) PITCH cast member Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa celebrate at the 2016 FOX ALL-STAR PARTY, Monday, Aug. 8 at a private members-only club in West Hollywood, CA.

Kelly Ripa may not be able to find a permanent cohost for Live with Kelly these days, but when she found an unfamiliar breast pump in her husband’s possession back in 2015, she knew exactly what to do: return it to Scarlett Johansson.

Johansson, 32, the highest-grossing actress in Hollywood’s history, recently told Marie Claire about the time Ripa's husband, Mark Consuelos, nabbed her bag at the 2015 Oscars. Johansson, who was a presenter that year, had recently given birth to daughter Rose Dorothy, who is now 2.

“I had to bring my breast pump because I was nursing and every ounce is like liquid gold,” Johansson told the magazine. “Somehow, Mark got ahold of my breast pump — in a bag with all the milk, ice packs in there, and [expletive]. He grabbed it out of my hand, but our cars got separated.”

That’s where South Jersey’s favorite morning talk show host comes in. Ripa knew Johansson would be remiss at the loss of the breast pump, and ultimately returned it, complete with an apology from Consuelos, Johansson said.

“Apparently, Kelly [Ripa] looked over, and she was like, ‘Wait a minute — is that Scarlett’s breast pump? We’ve got to get it back!’ because she knew how panicked I would be. We finally ended up at the same party three hours later, and Mark was like, ‘I’m so sorry.’ ”

Johansson, who stars in the upcoming Ghost in the Shell, also spoke with Marie Claire about wage equality in Hollywood, saying that just because she is “the top-grossing actress of all time does not mean I’m the highest paid.”

Ripa is still in the midst of a co-host search for Live with Kelly following the exit of former cohost Michael Strahan, who left the show last year for a gig at Good Morning America. Consuelos, who stars on Fox's Pitchis scheduled to cohost several episodes of the show this week.

A native of the Garden State, Ripa was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame last month. Her class also included soccer phenom Carli Lloyd, boxer Chuck Wepner (the real-life inspiration for Rocky), and rapper Wyclef Jean, among others.
