In an official statement to People on Monday, actress Paula Patton, 38, revealed that her and husband of eight years Robin Thicke, 36, have decided to end their relationship. "We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," she told the media outlet.
It’s been a whirlwind year for Thicke, both good and bad. His single “Blurred Lines,” which first hit our eardrums in March of 2013, skyrocketed the R&B singer from mediocre to full-fledged star. On the flip-side, he received major criticism for his single’s sexualized music video, rape-like lyrics and MTV VMA performance with barely-legal pop star Miley Cyrus.
Not long after that, his marriage with Paula was challenged. A 20-year-old socialite by the name of Lana Scolaro claimed she slept with Thicke after the scandalous VMAs performance, and his wife was there to witness it. “I don’t think he cared what she thought. I was with him the whole night!” she told Life & Style magazine back in September. He apparently openly groped Scolaro. When that news first surfaced, a rep for Patton said, "It's just a girl looking for some attention. Paula and Robin aren't concerned."
Cheating allegations aside, the price of quickly elevated fame seems to have split this pair apart.
