'Real Housewife' Ramona discusses pinot grigio, falling out with Jill

Any "Real Housewives of New York" viewer could tell you that Ramona Singer loves her pinot grigio.

Now she's launched her own line of the white wine and will sign bottles of Ramona Pinot Grigio della Venezie from 4 to 6 this evening at the Wine & Spirits Store at the Berkshire Mall West, in Wyomissing, Berks County.

"Pennyslvania is a difficult state to get into. It's a real honor to be chosen," Singer said about her line. She said that she started her own brand because "people reached out to me asking for recommendations of pinot grigio, 'What kind should I buy?' "

"I always changed every three months, so I wanted to make one that I loved," she said.

Singer is one of three "Housewives" who Bravo kept on for the next season. Ramona, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan remain, while the rest of the cast was not renewed, including Ramona's friend-turned-enemy, Jill Zarin.

"I really don't know the reasons as to why they recast it," Singer says. "I personally think that after the reunion, the fans were outraged with a lot of the negativity, so they decided to recast." As for how she is perceived on the show: "I always say it like it is. I own what I do."

On her falling-out with Zarin, Singer said: "I truly was appalled by Jill's attitude toward me. I felt like she used me as her whipping boy. I think Jill is very insecure. She's still that little girl in high school who was overweight and not liked and not invited to the party." She then added, "I'm the young girl who used to hide under the covers because I used to hear my father hitting my mother."

Singer, who said that she only sporadically watches the other "Housewives" cities, is still friends with Alex McCord, also one of the castoff "Housewives."

"The show's been great for me," Singer said. "I am a businesswoman first and foremost," Singer said. In addition to her True Faith jewelry line, Singer has a special collection for the Home Shopping Network.
