LaBelle told us before the taping that she was making her fried corn on the show. The diabetic singing sensation says she doesn't eat the dish herself but people will hurt themselves trying to eat too much of it once they've tried it.
We asked LaBelle what was up with her musically and she teased, "So much I can't tell you yet.
"Also I am Beyonce's baby's godmother, her spiritual godmother," she told us jokingly. LaBelle was excited to cook with Ray and use her line of Lady Marmalade spices and sauces, which are sold in supermarkets and available at PattiLaBelle.com.
Local cooks Douglas Feldman, Sarah Gulish and Stephanie Dumpson participated in the Great Philly Cook-Off at the taping, during which Philadelphia's own Boyz II Men, now celebrating their 20th anniversary as a group, performed. "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" host Ty Pennington was also part of the shoot.
The Philly episode will run when Ray's new season begins in late September. It airs locally at 10 a.m. weekdays on 6ABC.
Earlier yesterday, Ray stopped for a bite at the Famous 4th Street Deli (4th & Bainbridge) where she ate half a corned beef and half a brisket sandwich, plus some pickles.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Going away Patti. taxmannncometh
I hope Patti's bodyguards don't assault Rachael. MD20202020
Patti LaBelle needs bodyguards? Does anyone over 55 even know her? journalismIsDead
Check that. I mean "under 55". My bad. journalismIsDead
She sings like nobody's business though. Most people find her to be friendly and down to earth. Perhaps you should consider the bodyguard is a grown man who may have acted on his own merit. DIVAINKPEN- I saw that video, and it was extreme and uncalled for. The kid was just standing there. He had his suitcases in his hand, and a cell phone in the other hand. There was no way he was a "threat" to anyone, and he was standing to the rear of the limo on the sidewalk. He wasn't in the way of the door, or the limo's path. Then the bodyguard cold cocks him. Freakish and scary. I think LaBelle just enjoys a little show of her own and pays for it.

Worse yet, the kid was in the Army, trying to get back to base before deploying overseas.
Way to go Patti, you really should be proud of yourself. Philly.thompson837
