Give a warm Philly welcome to Chris Cato, the newest member of the NBC10 team. Cato will anchor the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscast on weekends with Denise Nakano, and contribute to weekday reports.
Cato comes to Philly from CBS affiliate WSPA in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he had worked since 2005. As well as anchoring broadcasts in S.C., Cato was the station's Community Watchdog reporter. This year, Cato was named 2012 Reporter of the Year by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association.
Cato began his career in Panama City, Florida, but is originally from Oneonta, Alabama. His Twitter profile says he has a 'deep love of Crimson Tide football." How long will it be until he's bleeding Eagles green? He will move to Philly with his wife, Carmen, and son.
- I wish him the best, but..if he doesn't work out for any reason, you can have Sheena Parveen read me the news anytime. I relish anything she has to communicate...even the cease-and-desist orders her lawyer sent me. wfs0868
Replace Swartz Happyface- Just another face to read the teleprompter soon to be replaced by another face to read the teleprompter. They are no more a journalist then you or I. I've pretty much given up on TV news anymore and get it here on this little computer. It is I who searches to find the truth, not some makeup wearing, tooth capped professional script reader from who knows where. And one thing we know, TV news always strives for the truth and objectivity, right???
You guys in Philly are so lucky to be getting Chris. He has a great personality and is so funny. I hope you guys enjoy him as much as we have here in the Carolinas. I guess the silver lining for me is I'm moving to Santa Fe, NM in December so I wouldn't be able to watch you anymore anyway, but then maybe I will, I saw you tonight on MSNBC. I know the folks in North and South Carolina will miss you for sure. Don't worry about the negative comments here; you will win those guys over in no time. Good luck Chris to you and your family and oh yes, Congrats on the job. jimfowler
Philly is lucky to have Chris Cato. He will be greatly missed in SC. He's an amazing, dedicated reporter who was often found in our local library doing research. (And getting the attention of everyone in the building). He's great, and I'm sure you'll all see that soon! Oh... and this is for anyone who thinks he cute--wait until you see him in person, much cuter in person and so friendly! EMartinSC
