NBC10 hires new anchor

POSTED: Monday, October 1, 2012, 1:47 PM
NBC10's new weekend anchor Chris Cato.

Give a warm Philly welcome to Chris Cato, the newest member of the NBC10 team. Cato will anchor the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscast on weekends with Denise Nakano, and contribute to weekday reports.

Cato comes to Philly from CBS affiliate WSPA in Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he had worked since 2005. As well as anchoring broadcasts in S.C., Cato was the station's Community Watchdog reporter. This year, Cato was named 2012 Reporter of the Year by the South Carolina Broadcasters Association.

Cato began his career in Panama City, Florida, but is originally from Oneonta, Alabama. His Twitter profile says he has a 'deep love of Crimson Tide football." How long will it be until he's bleeding Eagles green? He will move to Philly with his wife, Carmen, and son.

I hope that he has more personality than the guy they hired for weekday mornings. NBC10 lost me when they lost Stacey Stauffer and Terry Ruggles.

On another note, I'll never watch Cahnnel 10 again.. After Renee Chenault Fattah's son was in the news, CBS, ABC, Inquirer and Daily News ALL ran the story except Channel 10!!! Frauds!!....

Yes it's not the same without Stacey. They better hire a few more people if they want to fill the 12 noon to 4pm block with news.

Couldn't they find a mixed race female or are they all working in TV already? Anyway, Good Luck fella, you'll need it around here. We can be pretty brutal.

Nobody in Philly was qualified for this job so they went to the burgeoning metropolis of Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina to find this doofus?

First that dweeb from Arkansas on CBS3 and now some doofus from Alabama. OK, nobody in Philly qualified. Ain't no yankees qualified? All they can find is rednecks?

They got rid of Stacey Stauffer who was fantastic, only to hire this guy. Stacey should definitely be suing them for age discrimination.
