'Maxim' names Eva Longoria their woman of the year

By Maxim’s standards, actress Eva Longoria has been named the magazine’s ‘Woman of the Year.’

To be honest, we’re not really sure why Miss Longoria has been selected for the title. She kept it pretty low-key in 2013, and was most noted for her work behind the scenes rather than in front of the camera. She’s the ‘executive producer’ for just-okay shows like Devious Maids and Mother Up!, but we don’t think that qualifies her for woman of the year.

In May, she did complete a master’s program at California State University Northridge for a degree in Chicano and Chicana Studies – a three-year course that she quietly attended in person. She’s also dabbled in various philanthropic activities and was a co-chair of Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. Then there’s always the obvious sex appeal.

Still, we can’t say Longoria would be the go-to pick for us. How about Malala Yousafzai or the only human with a soul in Hollywood (since stars sell magazines), Jennifer Lawrence

Here is a clip from her January/Febuary feature:

Maxim: Besides acting, you're a producer, a businesswoman, and a philanthropist. We also heard you had to reschedule this interview because you had to present your thesis.

Longoria: Yeah, I'm getting my master's degree. I was like, "My brain can't jump that fast from a Maxim interview to a thesis!" Back in high school I really was the chameleon, too. I got along with the honors math club, then I would go to cheerleading practice, and then I was a band geek as well.
