Saturday Night Live cast member Kate McKinnon has already become known for her impression of White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, but Conway says she wishes the impersonation was just “a little bit more happy.”
Conway recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter for an extensive profile in which the Atco, N.J. native discusses her notes for McKinnon’s impression, saying that she herself is “known for being much more happy.”
“Make her be a little bit more happy,” Conway told THR. “I’m known as much more happy than maybe the character sometimes is. I liked the ... ‘Kellyanne Conway’s Day Off.’ That was much more me.”
“Kate McKinnon clearly sees the road to the future runs through me and not Hillary,” Conway added.
Conway previously praised McKinnon's impression of her, writing on Twitter in October last year that the SNL actress "has me down."
McKinnon most recently portrayed Conway in a Chicago parody skit that spoofed the musical’s track, “Roxie.” In the sketch, McKinnon-as-Conway explains that she joined President Donald Trump’s campaign to increase her fame.
As an alternative fact, Conway’s criticism’s aren’t completely unfounded. After all, the current White House counselor has some great experience (another alternative fact) as a stand-up comedian, judging from this 1998 stand-up performance:
Sometimes, you’ve just got to leave these things to the professionals.
