J. Lo out on 'American Idol'

Jennifer Lopez announced today that she was leaving "American Idol." The pop star/actress' announcement follows one made by former co-worker Steven Tyler, who announced yesterday that he'd be leaving the judges' panel as well. (Admittedly, Lopez's statement was considerably more lucid than Tyler's.)

"The time has come," Lopez told "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest on his nationally syndicated radio show, "On Air with Ryan Seacrest." Lopez joined the ratings juggernaut two seasons ago and it effectively revived her sagging career.

Lopez has been hanging out in Philly recently, practicing for her upcoming tour that hits Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on July 29.

Lopez's departure once again leaves Randy Jackson as the remaining "Idol" judge, confirming our theory that when the world ends, Jackson, Cher and cockroaches will have one hell of a party.

Does this spell uncertain doom for "American Idol"? Weigh in below, dear readers.

Listen Lopez on Seacrest's show below.

who cares. Lopez is a frustrated stripper and belongs in the lobby of the old trocadaro theater on Arch street. You can dress them up but you can't take them out.

American Idol loses nothing with her departure. Her ability to seriously critique singers and musicians is non-existent and her commentary was mostly inane. It makes you wonder how she, along with Steven Tyler, has a music career at all. Both of them appeared to have no real knowledge of music at all judging from their performance on that show. Randy Jackson is better, but not by much. He goes in and out of coherence. Perhaps it was the influence of Mr. Tyler and Ms. Lopez. Good riddance to them both.

Why not use professional popular music singing teachers for the Judges who can more accurately and professionally articulate the pros and cons of a singer's performance than celebs in the music business. And I am sure there are teachers out there with plus and entertaining personalities that the audience can learn to love. It took time for the TV viewer to get to know and like Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.
I personally will miss Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, but no doubt the show will go on and continue
to be successful for years to come and it could even getter better with the right choice of replacement
    judges.

She will not be missed.Neither will Tyler. Dome a favor ? Please take this show off the air. The talent from this show gets lamer with every season.I was pretty much through with it when Simon told Jennifer Hudson she could sing but she was too fat.Barry Manilow snatched her up as his opening act that year and the rest as they say is history
