George Zimmerman will reportedly box DMX in locally-produced fight

Local celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman is at it again.

Feldman announced that he will promote a three-round boxing match between George Zimmerman, the man who fatally shot Trayvon Martin (and was later acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges), and rapper DMX.

The 43-year-old rapper was allegedly one of 15,000 applicants to fight the 30-year-old Zimmerman, who has continued to pop up in the public eye since his controversial acquittal last year.Zimmerman told Radar the fight was his idea and he's been training regularly.

Date, location and time of the fight will be announced at a press conference next week. Pay-per-view and television deals are also expected to be announced.

Feldman, a former boxer himself, is known for his celebrity brawls, including the likes of Michael Lohan, Tonya Harding and a controversial bout with Jose Canseco.

Trayvon Martin would have been 19 today.

UPDATE: There is now a pettiion to stop the fight.

UPDATE AGAIN: A statement from DMX's manager says the fight is not official yet. "DMX has promised to 'beat [Zimmerman's] ass", but no contract or paperwork has been signed or agreed to yet. DMX will release an official statement if and when an agreement is made," DMX's agent Domenick Nati said in a statement.
