Julia Roberts' niece Emma Roberts was arrested on domestic violence charges in Canada after an altercation with her boyfriend, Evan Peters, brewed into a full-throttle physical fight.

22-year-old Roberts was taken into custody on July 7 after someone called the cops "concerning a conflict" between a man and woman in a Montreal hotel room. When officials arrived, Peters had a bloody nose and allegedly, a bite mark.

Roberts was promptly arrested due to Peters' visible injuries, and released hours later because no charges were filed by her 26-year-old boyfriend.

The two are still together and filming the next season of American Horror Story. TMZ posted photos of the young actress in tears with her boyfriend after the news broke Tuesday.

The following joint statement released by Roberts and Peters' reps was shared with Us Weekly Wednesday: "It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding. Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."
